Extremely bad insurance company

Bennetts Motorcycle Insurance is an extremely bad insurance company that does not care about its customers. After a slight delay in sending my no-claim certificate (which they required to be translated, since it was from overseas), they cancelled the policy with NO notice (no email, no letter, no phone call), and refunded me a ridiculously small part of the premium. Since I got my credit card bill only at the end of the month, I realised that I had driven without an insurance in the meanwhile. I will never use this company again and I'll advise everybody to stay away from it.

Ridiculous charges

Bennetts Motorcycle Insurance is an awful company to deal with save your money go somewhere else. Ridiculous charges to make any change to your policy and a £30 cancellation charge when they already have 12 mths premium saying their in line with other insurers

Bennetts Motorcycle were great insurers to start with!

Bennetts Motorcycle were great insurers to start with but when there are problems - they are BIG ones.

Main problem is the £20 renewal fee and big premium increase on auto-renewal. You only find out about these when it's too late and then there is a £30 cancellation fee.

My daughter was charged £30 to cancel when she sold here bike 1 month before the end of the insurance. They told her it was illegal to insure a bike she did not own - Rubbish!

My renewal notice went missing so the first I knew about the renewal fee was 2 days after the renewal date when the policy document arrived; also the premiums had been hiked up by 40% - when I complained I hit a brick wall. I told them I did not want the policy so they now have added a £30 cancellation fee.

Renewed my policy automatically

I had been with Bennetts for 3 year and every year my premium seemed to have gone up substantially even though my circumstances hadn't changed a bit. Upon inquiring the raise in premium, I was told that their insurance rates have gone up and that was the cheapest quote they had given me.

Once my second year ' s insurance had come to an end, they automatically took out money from my account and renewed my policy automatically (although they had sent me a letter prior to doing that, but I unfortunately didn ' t get a chance to read as I had been out of the country when the letter was delivered).

Once they renewed my policy I told them, I was out of the country that is why I hadn't come back to them, but they didn't seem to want to accept that as a reason and charged me £50 cancellation fee.

Small print - not even in BOLD

I looked through the substantial Insurance booklet before cancelling my Motorcycle insurance - there was no refence to a penalty charge of £30 for this.

I wrote and cancelled and within a short period of time received a recorded delivery letter containing a DEMAND for a cancellation fee of £30 with 10 days to pay or else! and a request to send them back the original insurance certificate (no problem with this - pre addressed envelope included.I phoned and was told in no uncertain terms that I had to pay £30 as it was printed on the A4 "special conditions" sent out with the insurance documents. I checked and in the small print there it was - not even in BOLD or Underlined. No arguments are entertained by this company (small c intended) when I phoned to point out I paid in FULL every year and the total cost was £64.50 - up front! My policy had less than 2 months to expiry. There is no justification for this punative charge, in my case amounting to almost 50% of the full annual cost of insurance - no wonder they can afford Recorded Delivery.

Officer didn't say I have to pay the penalty

When I cancel my account on September the officer didn't say I have to pay the penalty, 2 months later they sent me the penalty for £218, if I knew that from the first place I wouldn't try to cancel my account, then I called again, the supervisor said the officer I spoke with doesn't have to tell me the penalty fees! I think is so wrong, he should say that when I want to cancel! Otherwise I will not cancel! And the insurance is automatically renewed, it was August, and I was on holiday till September. So I cancelled straight away when I came back.

I have another problem with them, they send another company called 'Amber' who debited my account, I called the Amber company and they said it's not their responsibly for that because they follow the system from Bennetts, then I called Bennetts again and they told me that they couldn't check because they are not the one who takes the money out, so I lost all my money and in the end I have to pay the penalty, in the end they only say 'its all in our policy and they didn't know anything and can not check anything in the past! I want to let all the people know about that and if you have some idea of how I should do please add a comment to this review. It'll be very helpful. Thank you.
